YOUTH DIRECTOR/PASTOR
(Part-Time or Full-time)
The youth ministry of Grove Avenue Baptist Church provides biblical, age-appropriate discipling and connection opportunities for youth from 6th through 12th grade. On Sundays especially, Grove seeks to provide a quality ministry for youth and involves a ministry team.
The youth director (youth pastor if ordained or eligible for ordination) role only requires 10-20 hours per week. This would be a part-time job, but could also be a full-time position if combined with other staffing needs such as Youth & Outreach or Youth & Family (depending on church needs and individual’s qualifications).
Summary:
Provide leadership and ministry through Grove’s youth ministry.
Report to senior pastor or other designated staff leadership.
Provide leadership for development and execution of programs for Youth Ministry.
Biblical instruction during Sunday night Youth Worship times.
Assist in other duties as assigned by senior pastor.

Able to build a team that leads and executes Grove’s youth ministry by inspiring others to serve in this ministry.
Driven to reach kids who do not know Christ by being relevant and providing a great space for them to connect with other youth and leaders.
An advocate for connecting with parents and equipping them to be leaders in the spiritual development of families with youth.
An effective communicator who listens well.
A proven project manager with strong attention to details and administrative skills.
A team player and team builder who focuses on the good of the entire church.
Example Actions:
Serve as an ambassador for Christ as you witness and minister to youth in the church and community, and their families; as well as be willing and able to serve and minister as called upon in general.
Demonstrate servant leadership as you coordinate and develop a ministry team and lead any assigned staff, in being most effective in their roles on the Grove youth team. Meet monthly with student ministry leaders to discuss upcoming events, challenges, solutions, praises -- and to pray. This objective is done in coordination and communication with the overall church leadership as we seek to develop a unified vision and ministry plan.
Provide opportunities for disciple-making by coordinating and administrating disciple-making opportunities for youth in 6th-12th grades (i.e. Life Group, weekly youth group gathering (currently Sunday evenings), prayer activities, outreach, ministry service involvement in church, community outreach, missions, seasonal events, fellowships, retreats, camps, mission trip).
Identify the needs and interests of teens within the church and community
Plan and develop programs for the student ministry.
Evaluate existing programs to determine effectiveness.
Identify and provide ministry opportunities for teens.
Seek to foster the growth of youth involvement and attendance by creating and implementing a strategy, in conjunction with the church leadership and ministry plan, that draws in families into the church through Grove’s youth ministry.
Minister to the families and aid in connecting what happens through the church with what happens at home and create a presence of Grove’s youth ministry in the community.
Maintain effective communication and promotion of Grove’s youth ministry with the church, families, and community.
Regularly connect with Grove Christian School, seeking to build relationships and involve unchurched or uninvolved students in GABC, with a focus to see students trust Christ and grow in their walk with Christ.
Be a model for those who attend Grove by being an example of personal integrity, discipleship, and evangelism. Follow the guidelines and personnel policies of the church. Be in alignment with the church’s doctrinal position.
Part-time Staff Office Hours and “Work” Life
Sundays are “full ministry days” (even if there are no “youth activities”)
Church Office Hours are desirable but not required, especially on Tuesdays, 9am to 4pm
