Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
A Materials Intern at Magna Engineered Glass supports key organizational and inventory accuracy initiatives within the warehouse. This role focuses on improving rack location efficiency, standardizing signage, supporting inventory counts, and assisting with discrepancy resolution.
The internship provides hands-on experience in warehouse operations while contributing to accuracy, efficiency, and long-term operational sustainability.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Warehouse Organization & Space Optimization
- Assist with rack location reduction and reorganization projects to improve space utilization.
- Support efforts to streamline storage locations and reduce inventory handling errors.
Signage & Visual Standards
- Hang, update, and maintain signage for glass and finished goods locations.
- Verify signage accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established standards across all warehouse areas.
- Help establish and maintain standardized signage guidelines.
Inventory Accuracy & Cycle Counts
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts to improve accuracy.
- Support investigation and resolution of inventory transaction discrepancies.
- Help identify root causes of inventory variances and recommend corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Document completed changes related to rack locations, signage updates, and inventory corrections.
- Track progress of improvement initiatives and report updates to leadership.
- Escalate issues as required.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Support
- Participate in ongoing warehouse improvement projects.
- Support initiatives that improve material flow, visual management, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to long-term process improvements that enhance scalability and stability.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
- Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with normal standing, walking, and lifting within safe limits.
- Comfortable working both independently and in a team-based environment.
- English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Office Environment: 40%
- Plant/Warehouse Environment: 60%
- The employee must be able to tolerate standing and walking for extended periods, including moving throughout warehouse aisles and storage areas for approximately 40–60% of the workday.
- Occasional reaching above and below waist height and above shoulder height; occasional lifting and carrying of items weighing 5–40 lbs, in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Must be able to tolerate the use of a keyboard, mouse, and handheld scanning devices on an average of 4-8 hours per workday.
- While working in the warehouse environment, the employee may be exposed to moving equipment, forklifts, machinery, moderate noise levels, airborne particles, dust, and varying temperatures associated with manufacturing and storage operations
- This role operates in both office and warehouse environments within a manufacturing organization; Occasional travel may be required to pick up components needed. Travel requirements for this position are estimated at 5% per month.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged standing at least 8 hours, but up to 12 hours per day
- Lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds multiple times per week.

- Organizational & Data Management Skills: Effectively collects, tracks, and organizes information related to rack locations, signage updates, and inventory records; maintains accurate documentation and supports audit and improvement initiatives.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: Assists in identifying root causes of inventory discrepancies and operational inefficiencies; supports corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts.
- Communication & Collaboration: Communicates clearly with warehouse team members, supervisors, and leadership; able to share progress updates, ask questions, and support cross-functional teamwork.
- Initiative & Continuous Improvement Mindset: Demonstrates a proactive approach to learning, improving processes, and contributing ideas that enhance efficiency, organization, and long-term sustainability.
