ABOUT POSITION
An employee in this position will be a member of the Classification and Compensation team supporting employees, supervisors, and leadership in the Department of Human Services (DHS). The Classification and Compensation team has the primary responsibility of supporting employee and position transactions, performance management transactions, job analysis, and payroll functions. The HR Generalist 2 position will report to the HR Manager 2 (Classification and Compensation Manager). This position is posted of the Davidson County office but may be moved to a county closer to where the successful candidate is located. This position will work remotely through Alternative Workplace Solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Position Changes: Support DHS leadership by researching and processing requests for class/comp actions such as position reclassifications, location or budget code changes, and supervisory changes.
- Employee Actions: Support employees and leadership by reviewing and processing salary actions such as equities, assignment differentials, shift differentials, and college degree or professional certification increases.
- Job Analysis: Support program leadership by assisting in the establishing new job classifications through job analysis and by modifying existing classifications.
- Program Restructures: Become a strategic partner in divisional reorganizations by supporting employees and leadership throughout the entire process. This will include processing employee and position transactions and assisting with the hiring process from job posting through hire.
- Payroll: Manage payroll functions by identifying and processing transactions for salary under and overpayments made to employees. Process salary increases such as market increases and additional payroll supplementals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to one year of professional human resources work. Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in human resources administration or other related acceptable fields may be substituted for the required experience, on a yearfor-year basis, to a maximum of one year. Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time professional or paraprofessional human resources experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.
