STORMWATER SPECIALIST INTERN

 

About the Role

The Stormwater Specialist Intern (SWS-Intern) is an internship role that is learning from and assisting our Stormwater Specialist (SWS) Team. The SWS role functions as a stormwater solutions application engineer with meaningful interaction across internal teams and external customers.

This internship is intended to develop a foundational understanding of stormwater management principles while gaining exposure to technical solution design, project evaluation, and sales support. Key areas of focus include:

 

  • Learning how to apply the most effective StormTrap solutions to meet stormwater detention, retention, and water quality requirements based on local regulations, site constraints, and customer needs.

 

  • Growing as a technical resource by working closely and collaboratively with cross-functional team members, including Territory Managers (TM), General Sales Managers (GSM), Project Managers (PM), Customer Support Representatives (CSR), and Designers.

 

  • Identifying and evaluating high-probability opportunities by reviewing opportunity database and tools such as ConstructConnect.

 

  • Supporting engineering customers with project assistance and participating in the initial qualification of opportunities with installing customers.

 

  • Contributing as a member of the sales support team by prioritizing tasks, managing time effectively, and utilizing Salesforce (CRM) to track activity and opportunities.

 

  • Completing a Project that will be presented to the SWS Team meant to enhance the SWS role after you return to school when the summer program ends.

 

Pay rate

$15-20/hour, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week

 

Location

This opportunity is specific to our office located in Amesbury, Massachusetts.

 

Responsibilities

Learning and assisting the SWS Team with their responsibilities including:

  • Working alongside our Territory Managers acting as their technical resource partner by analyzing engineering plans for opportunity take-off and application of solution, entering opportunities and all pre-bid details into Salesforce, and preparing estimates.
  • Entering new accounts, contacts, and opportunities in Salesforce, as well as structural engineering case entry.
  • Interfacing with external engineering customers to obtain design information, project details, and follow up on design progress.
  • Providing search assistance with project lead sourcing (i.e. Construct Connect) - identifying and managing the project queue for preliminary/conceptual projects, as well as identifying value engineering/alternative project opportunities within the region. This includes reviewing online plans and tracking these opportunities.
  • Performing Construct Connect project outreach and qualification with bidding customers prior to Territory Manager quote delivery.
  • Coordinating with Project Managers to obtain current material and freight pricing for input into project estimates.
  • Assisting in organization efforts in Salesforce and Box (Cloud-based data sharing).

 

Job Requirement & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a higher education program, with a preference for Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Interest in stormwater management, infrastructure systems, or environmental sustainability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical information and engineering plans.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and comfort interacting with internal teams and external customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software is a plus but not required.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Self-motivated, coachable, and able to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Positive, professional attitude with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

 

Travel

This is a role based in the Amesbury, MA office Monday thru Friday. Day Travel could present itself to project sites or with Territory Managers but are not mandatory for this position.
