Marketing Intern

Position Description

The Marketing department is excited to offer a paid, in-person internship for those passionate about books and eager to learn more about publishing. Interns will be responsible for:

– Bookseller, librarian, and consumer mailings

– Writing copy for ads, newsletters, and the website

– Database upkeep and general departmental organization

– Researching target audiences and influencers and conducting outreach

– Website maintenance

– Contributing to our social media channels

– Generating marketing assets

Interns can expect to learn how a book is launched into the world, from its early stages as a galley through to the paperback release. Interns will have the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the campaigns of a variety of titles and to the overall branding of an independent publisher.

Qualifications

Interns must have excellent communication and writing skills and be highly organized, creative, and self-motivated. Interns should have an ability and willingness to tackle any task at hand, and an interest in the publishing industry, preferably in marketing.

Ideal candidates will be familiar with social media, especially TikTok, have photography and design skills (Photoshop/Canva), be proficient with Microsoft Office, and have experience working in an office environment.

Time Period and Compensation

The intern must be available to come into our New York City offices at least two days a week (preferably Tuesday and Wednesday) with a third day which can be remote. The internship will last approximately six months (March – August) and will be paid $20 an hour.
