Content Marketing Intern

Content Marketing Intern

Duration: 6 months with potential extension
Location: Remote
Hours: 5-10 hours per week
Compensation: DOE

Overview

Support marketing initiatives by creating, scheduling, and managing content across multiple channels to drive engagement and brand awareness. This role focuses exclusively on content creation, writing, and campaign management—not graphic design or visual assets.

Position Responsibilities

Content Creation & Writing (70%)

  • Write and edit blog posts, social media content, email campaigns, and newsletters
  • Develop content for aviation, healthcare, commercial real estate, and government sector campaigns
  • Create press releases, case studies, and white papers
  • Write video scripts and content outlines for multimedia projects
  • Develop compelling copy that aligns with brand voice and messaging
  • Proofread and ensure content quality across all materials
  • Adapt technical GIS concepts into accessible, engaging content

Social Media & Campaign Management (20%)

  • Schedule and publish content across LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, and Esri Community 
  • Manage content calendars and ensure timely delivery at optimal posting times
  • Monitor content performance and engagement metrics
  • Coordinate with Graphic Design Intern for visual assets to accompany written content
  • Respond to comments and engage with the community (as directed)
  • Track campaign performance and provide reports

Email Marketing & Research (10%)

  • Manage email marketing campaigns using Instantly and Kit platforms
  • Handle email list management, verification, and segmentation
  • Draft and schedule newsletter campaigns
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitive landscape, and target markets
  • Research prospects and develop market intelligence reports
  • Optimize content for SEO and engagement

Qualifications

Required:

  • Marketing, communications, journalism, or related background (current students, recent graduates, or career changers welcome)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading abilities
  • Demonstrated research capabilities
  • Social media platform experience (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, etc.)
  • Email marketing knowledge and experience
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proactive communication and willingness to ask questions

Preferred:

  • SEO optimization experience
  • Familiarity with analytics platforms (Google Analytics, social media insights, etc.)
  • Technical writing or B2B content experience
  • Understanding of GIS industry or technical topics (can learn on the job)
  • Experience with email marketing platforms
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging content
