Job Title: Communications and Storytelling Intern
Compensation:
This is a paid position with salary or stipend range defined by programs available to the student through their educational institution or third-party scholarship. Transit Alliance Miami is willing to provide matching funds and accommodate class credit arrangements where possible. This internship runs for 10 consecutive weeks, Monday May 4th through Friday July 10th, with an expected 15-20 hours of work weekly, totaling at least 150 hours.
Job Description:
As Communications and Storytelling Intern, you will help Transit Alliance Miami amplify our mission and engage diverse audiences across Miami-Dade County through compelling content creation and strategic storytelling. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, digital media production, and grassroots campaign messaging in a fast-paced advocacy environment.
This role is hybrid, with a structure of 60% remote and 40% in-person work. Must be based in Miami-Dade or Broward.
Areas of responsibility will include some or all of the following:
- Create engaging social media content across multiple platforms
- Document community events and transit activations through photography and videography
- Write and edit content for newsletters, blog posts, and campaign materials
- Develop visual storytelling assets using design tools
- Support media outreach and press release development
- Assist with website content updates and digital communications
- Conduct interviews with community members and transit riders
- Support event promotion and community engagement campaigns
Required Skills:
- Copywriting skills for short, medium, and long-form content
- Communications or journalism academic background
- Ability to engage creatively with pop culture moments and social media trends
- Photography and video editing experience for short or long-form videos
- Attention to detail, and ability to work independently with flexible scheduling
- Strong interpersonal abilities, experience in customer service or community engagement preferred
- Project management skills
Preferred Skills
- Interest in public policy
- Familiarity with Miami-Dade civic process
- Familiarity with Canva
- Experience with Capcut or Adobe Premiere
- Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency
