Blithewold Manor, Gardens and Arboretum is a 33-acre non-profit public garden located on the shores of Narragansett Bay overlooking the harbor in Bristol, Rhode Island. Blithewold is seeking a candidate to fill a 30-40 hour per week position with the gardens staff from spring (April or May) through August. This person will gain hands-on experience in most areas of garden maintenance as well as aspects of public horticulture while assisting staff, working with volunteers, greeting visitors and answering their questions. Job tasks will include, but are not limited to, planting, weeding, and watering.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be hard working and detail oriented, have a demonstrated ability to work well with others as well as independently, a strong interest in ornamental horticulture and an excellent record of attendance and reliability in previous employment. A basic knowledge of practical horticultural techniques is preferred.

Physical demands of the job include working in inclement weather, being able to lift 50 pounds, working at ground level and an ability to operate horticultural hand tools safely.
