Job Summary: The Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Student IT Support Technician to contribute to the efficient daily operations of our technical facilities.  This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in IT support within an academic engineering environment, fostering skill development in areas crucial for future professional endeavors.


Responsibilities: 

  • Assist students, faculty, & staff with IT requirements
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair IT systems
  • Implement upgrades of hardware, software and systems
  • Gather data for reports and inventory
  • Assist with diagnosis/resolution of issues related to IT
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of materials and supplies 
  • Work on maintenance request repair needs, inventory, etc for Engineering IT systems in academic, laboratory, and research computing facilities


Qualifications: 

  • Punctuality and a strong work ethic are essential.
  • Experience with computer hardware is desired.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial.
  • Excellent attention to detail is required.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.


On-Campus Job Location: Bruce and Gloria Ingram Hall 

Direct Supervisor: Brian Allen

Work Schedule: The students in this position are expected to work 15-20 hours per week and be available to work on Fridays. 


Employee Evaluation Process: 

Interview selection and decisions will be communicated to applicants through Handshake. Timeline: 

1. Review Submissions: All submissions will be reviewed by Sept 5. 
2. Initial Interviews: Schedule interviews continuously as applications come in. 
3. Final Decision: Final decision by Sept . 12. 

Post-Hiring: 

- Supervisor will hold weekly meetings  


Pay Rate Determination: The starting hourly pay for this position is $9, determined by the candidate's relevant skills and experience with computer equipment. The potential for future increases exists, contingent upon demonstrated experience and performance within the role.
