Are you passionate about hospitality, events, and creating unforgettable guest experiences?
Lavender Hill Farm is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Hospitality & Event Captain Intern to join our team for the summer season. This role provides hands-on experience in event coordination, guest services, and leadership, making it an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in hospitality, event planning, or agritourism.
Note: This role is ideally paired with another position on our farm—such as Tour Guide, Retail Associate, or Field Worker—to achieve a 40-hour workweek, making it an excellent opportunity to gain diverse hospitality experience.

Lavender Hill Farm is a premier agritourism destination in Northern Michigan, known for its 13,000 plants, guided tours, concert series, events and our farmhouse boutique. Our Certified Naturally Grown farm offers a hands-on, collaborative work environment where team members across all departments work closely with leadership, making a real impact on daily operations and guest experiences, while surrounded by fields of lavender.
What You’ll Do
As a Hospitality & Event Team Go-To Intern, you will:
- Oversee private events, ensuring seamless execution from start to finish.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for event clients, guests, and vendors.
- Assist in planning, preparing, and executing event timelines, checklists, and layouts.
- Work closely with the hospitality team to coordinate event setup, venue preparation, and
event teardown.
- Maintain clear communication and records with event planners to confirm all event details.
- Monitor venue conditions, ensuring it remains clean, organized, and welcoming for all guests.
- Provide guided golf cart tours of the farm and assist at the Ambassador Stand, answering visitor questions.
- Participate in weekly team go-to meetings with farm leadership to review progress and upcoming events.
- Assist in other farm operations as needed to contribute to the overall success of Lavender Hill Farm.
What We’re Looking For
- A student or recent graduate in Hospitality, Business, Event Management, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- A passion for event planning, hospitality, and guest services.
- Strong ability to multitask, problem-solve, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- A customer-focused mindset, ensuring an outstanding guest experience.
- Experience in event planning, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
- Knowledge of audio-visual equipment and Microsoft Office is a plus!
- TIPS or ServSafe Certification is recommended.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Internship Details:
- Location: Lavender Hill Farm, Boyne City, MI
- Duration: May through mid-August (potential extension through October)
- Schedule: Full-time, including weekends and evenings
- Compensation: Paid internship with limited housing available
