BOL Clerk
The BOL Clerk is responsible for preparing and managing all documentation related to the shipment of goods. This role involves creating, verifying, and processing bills of lading, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations, and maintaining accurate records of all shipments. The BOL Clerk coordinates with various departments and external carriers to ensure the timely and accurate dispatch of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare Bills of Lading: Prepare correct bills of lading in a timely manner, ensuring all information matches the physical parts packed
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all shipments and related documentation and provide follow up.
- Coordinate with Departments: Work closely with the shipping, receiving, and inventory departments to ensure accurate and timely shipment of goods.
- Liaise with Carriers: Communicate with external carriers to arrange for the transportation of goods.
- Resolve Discrepancies: Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues with shipment documentation. Check hotlists and held ups/Fedex for potential last minute shipping problems or issues.
- Track Shipments: Monitor and track the status of shipments, ensuring timely delivery.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to shipment documentation.
- Report Preparation: Prepare and distribute reports related to shipping activities and discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in logistics or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: 2+ years of previous experience in a shipping or logistics role, particularly with bill of lading preparation.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, WMS experience strongly preferred, and MS Office Suite. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and issues promptly.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, in a fast paced environment.
