Programs & Events Assistant

Description

Under the general direction of the Windmill Island Gardens Programs Coordinator, and the Windmill Island Gardens Event Specialist – Assist with planning programs, coordinating programs, and executing programs. Set up and supervise programs, events, weddings, and facility rentals at Windmill Island Gardens. 
 

Examples of Duties

1. Plan, coordinate, and execute programming at Windmill Island
Gardens with the direction of the Programs Coordinator.
2. Responds to event concerns and questions from clients, with help from
Programs Coordinator and Event Specialist if needed.
3. Assists Pavilion Operator in setting up event spaces for programs and
event rentals such as transporting and setting up tables, chairs, bar,
and other event materials.
4. Helps oversee quality and standards of presentation for programs, weddings,
and facility rentals, such as layout, set-up, and cleanliness of facility rental
areas.
5. Attends and supervises programs, weddings, receptions and facility rental events.
6. Serves as a representative of Windmill Island Gardens and ensures that
events run smoothly.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Typical Qualifications

1. Two years of experience in assisting with event coordination for programs,
weddings, receptions, and facility rental events.
2. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively work with a diverse clientele in
situations requiring tact and patience. The ability to communicate and work
productively with both Windmill Island Gardens staff and clients.
3. Mental ability to handle pressures related to the simultaneous management of
multiple tasks.
4. Physical ability to occasionally lift/push/
 

Supplemental Information

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Work includes outside working conditions with exposure to hot weather
or cold weather conditions.
2. Evening and / or weekend work frequently required.
