Horse Wrangler

Position Overview

Wranglers are responsible for the care, safety, and management of horses while providing a safe, positive, and memorable experience for ranch guests. This role combines hands-on horse care with guest interaction, requiring strong communication skills, attention to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. Wranglers play a key role in daily barn operations and represent the ranch through professionalism, hospitality, and enthusiasm.


Primary Responsibilities

  • General upkeep of the barn, corrals, tack room, and fencing
  • Overseeing the health, feeding, medical care, and overall welfare of horses
  • Maintaining and organizing guest safety equipment, including helmets and vests
  • Leading and assisting guided trail rides
  • Providing clear safety orientations to guests before each ride
  • Monitoring guests during rides to ensure safety, confidence, and enjoyment
  • Represent the ranch with professionalism, enthusiasm, and hospitality
  • When horseback riding activity is slow, Wranglers may assist other departments, including the Grounds Crew, as needed


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Able to lift 80 pounds or more
  • Trail riding experience, including leading or assisting rides with inexperienced riders
  • Horse training experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work well under time constraints and in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Maintains a positive, friendly, and professional attitude with guests and coworkers


Certifications

  • First Aid / CPR certification required (Online certification accepted)
