Software Engineering Summer Analyst (OS Ecosystem)
Tempus is seeking a highly qualified Software Engineering Summer Analyst to work with us for the summer of 2026. We are looking for people who can change the world.

As a Summer Intern at Tempus, you will:
- Apply skills and knowledge learned in the classroom to on-the-job experiences
- Work on comprehensive, value-added project(s) that help enhance the fields of science and technology
- Collaborate with teams/colleagues in a fast-paced environment
- Gain professional development & build relationships with peers from across the country
Anticipated Summer Project(s):
- Migrate a data warehouse ingestion pipeline from DPL off TH1 (presumably to GCP Batch)
- Build new platform component lifecycle notifications and alerts
- Develop our GenAI OS Support Agent past internal PoC to user facing deployment.
- Develop a new OS Platform Metrics Agent that gathers operational data from platform databases and logs and enables users to easily assess platform status and answer operational questions in natural language.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar technical field (undergraduate completion in summer of 2027).
- 3.0+ GPA preferred, but other candidates with strong experience considered
- Candidates with demonstrated previous internship or similar (group projects, clubs, hackathons, side projects, etc.) practical experience strongly preferred
- GitHub or other online portfolio demonstrating software development projects strongly preferred, especially in Node.js, Python, and/or leveraging GCP, AWS, or other cloud technologies.
- Experience and comfort using GenAI coding tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc. in software development projects.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and curiosity to learn and a drive to improve
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a variety of settings and media.
- Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Google Suite and Gmail, preferred.
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others in a fast-paced environment is critical. Be ready to fly the plane as you’re still building it!
Additional Details:
- You will spend 9 or 11 weeks working in our Chicago office. The internship will be a hybrid, onsite 3 days/week with the option to work the remaining days remotely.
- The program will start in early June and run through August.
- A competitive hourly wage will be provided for the summer employment, and a relocation bonus to help offset some of the relocation costs and resources to help you find housing.
