Gate Hill Day Camp | Summer Position
Gate Hill Day Camp is seeking an energetic, nurturing, and creative Early Childhood Sports Specialist to lead fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate sports programming for our youngest campers, ages 3 through entering 1st grade (Villagers to Jr. Pathfinders).
This role focuses on introducing young children to sports through play-based learning, skill-building activities, and structured games that support confidence, coordination, teamwork, and a love for movement. The Early Childhood Sports Specialist designs and leads engaging daily lessons, creates age-appropriate routines, and ensures a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for all campers.
You will work closely with counselors and leadership staff to support camper development, model positive behavior, and help deliver a high-quality early childhood experience that reflects Gate Hill’s values and community culture.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Designing and leading age-appropriate sports and movement activities
Creating weekly lesson plans aligned with camp themes and child development
Teaching basic sports skills through fun, structured play
Maintaining safe, organized, and engaging activity spaces
Supporting camper behavior in a positive, nurturing way
Training and guiding counselors and LITs in the activity area
Ensuring equipment safety, organization, and proper use
Participating in special events, all-camp activities, and arrival/dismissal support
Ideal Candidates:
Love working with young children in outdoor settings
Have experience in sports, physical education, or youth programming
Are energetic, patient, flexible, and positive role models
Are comfortable leading groups and working as part of a team
Enjoy creating fun, engaging, and meaningful experiences for early childhood campers
