Landscape Construction Intern

Landscape Construction Internship

Location: Acton, MA
Department: Landscape Construction / Operations
Internship Type: Seasonal or Semester-Based (Full-Time or Part-Time)
 

Position Overview

The Landscape Construction Intern will gain hands-on experience across all phases of landscape construction projects by working directly with field crews, Superintendents, and Project Managers. This internship is designed to provide real-world exposure to day-to-day operations, project coordination, and leadership within a professional landscape construction environment.

This role is ideal for students or recent graduates pursuing degrees or careers in Landscape Construction, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations

Assist landscape construction crews with daily jobsite activities

Learn proper installation techniques for hardscape, planting, grading, and site preparation

Support equipment operation, material handling, and jobsite organization

Observe and follow all safety procedures and company policies

Superintendent Support

Shadow Superintendents to understand jobsite supervision and crew management

Assist with daily planning, scheduling, and coordination of labor and equipment

Participate in jobsite inspections, quality control checks, and safety meetings

Help document progress through photos, notes, and daily reports

Project Management Exposure

Work with Project Managers on project planning and coordination

Assist with tracking project schedules, materials, and deliveries

Learn basic job cost tracking, budgeting, and production analysis

Help prepare submittals, RFIs, and closeout documentation

Participate in project meetings when applicable

Learning Objectives

Understand the full lifecycle of a landscape construction project

Gain exposure to leadership roles within construction operations

Learn how field operations, supervision, and project management work together

Develop professional communication and organizational skills

Build a foundation for a future role as a Foreman, Superintendent, or Project Manager

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in:

Landscape Construction

Landscape Architecture

Construction Management

Horticulture or a related field

Strong interest in landscape construction and outdoor work

Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment

Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; construction software a plus)

Valid driver’s license preferred

Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical jobsite tasks

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on uneven terrain
