The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) is recruiting Correctional Plumbers & Steamfitters for the following facilities:

  • Corrigan Correctional Institution, Montville, CT
  • District 1 Maintenance, Somers, CT
  • Osborn Correctional Institution, Somers, CT
  • Hartford Correctional Center, Hartford, CT

Please note, this recruitment may be used to fill vacancies throughout State correctional facilities as openings occur within the next year.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Repair of critical systems such as:
    • Drinking (potable) piping distribution/pumping;
    • Hot water heating; -Steam distribution piping;
    • Drain (sanitary) piping, macerator (grinding, and pumping;
    • Cross connection (back flow prevention);
    • Cell fixtures (toilets, sinks and showers).
  • Supervising assigned inmates at a Correctional Institution
  • Keeping record of tool/inventory control
  • Protecting the health and safety of the public, staff and inmates;
  • Snow and ice removal to maintain safe access for the police, medical, staff and public;
  • Maintaining mandated compliances with Federal & State statute and agency directives and policies by assuring humane conditions of confinement in the facility through repair and maintenance.

These positions are full time on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 am until 3:00 pm.

Selected candidates will be required to attend a 14-week paid hazardous duty training at the Maloney Center for Training & Staff Development located in Cheshire, CT.
