Social Media Assistant
Job Title: Social Media Assistant (Part-Time, Year-Round | Potential Full-Time in Summer)
Start Date: February 2026 (ASAP)
Pay: $20/hour
Hours: 20 hours/week during the school year (flexible/variable schedule)
Summer Option: Potential to increase to full-time when school is out
Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Location: Primarily in-person (you’ll work alongside me capturing content); some travel opportunities
About the Role
We’re hiring a creative, dependable college student to support social media content creation starting February 2026. This is a year-round role, and we’re specifically looking for someone who will be in town over the summer (not leaving for an internship elsewhere), since content needs continue and can ramp up when school is out.
You’ll spend part of your time with me in real life capturing content—behind-the-scenes, events, day-to-day moments, meetings, and quick educational clips—then help turn that footage into strong short-form posts. The weekly schedule will vary based on what we’re filming, but we’ll stay flexible as long as we consistently hit 20 hours/week and ship great content.
There may also be opportunities to travel for content capture (based on your availability and comfort).
What You’ll Do
- Capture short-form vertical video content (Reels/TikTok/Shorts) while accompanying me during parts of the week
- Edit and deliver polished clips quickly (captions, pacing, light graphics, sound, transitions)
- Assist with posting, scheduling, and basic community support as needed
- Maintain a clean file system for footage and exports; keep a simple content tracker
- Pitch content ideas, hooks, and trend-friendly formats that fit our brand
- Create occasional graphics/carousels (Canva/Adobe as needed)
- Support light content operations (uploading, resizing, pulling selects, organizing)
Tools You’ll Have Access To
- Adobe Creative Cloud (full suite)
- Canva
- CapCut
- Soundstripe + Artlist (licensed music)
Schedule & Flexibilit
- 20 hours/week during the school year
- Variable hours depending on filming needs (some weeks may be more capture-heavy; others more edit-heavy)
- We can be flexible on timing as long as we plan ahead and deliver consistently
- Summer: option to increase hours and potentially move toward full-time when school is out
Qualifications (Must-Haves)
- Current college student (undergrad or grad)
- Available to start February 2026
- Will be staying in town during the summer
- Comfortable filming on a phone in public and capturing candid moments
- Short-form editing experience (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or similar)
- Strong sense of what performs on social media (hooks, pacing, clean visuals, trend awareness)
- Reliable communicator with strong follow-through
- Able to take direction and feedback, then iterate quickly
Ideal Qualities
- Excellent “taste” and storytelling instincts—knows what to capture and what to cut
- Proactive and creative: brings ideas, not just execution
- Organized and detail-oriented (file management matters)
- Calm under pressure and comfortable moving fast
- Professional and discreet—this role may involve real work settings and people
- Open to occasional travel opportunities for content capture
Role Details / Notes
- In-person is important: this is a “capture in the moment” role, not purely remote
- 1099 contractor position (you are responsible for taxes/withholdings)
- Opportunity to grow responsibilities over time if it’s a great fit
