Pay Details:
Starting Salary: $90,000 Range (Dependent upon experience)
Position Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) provides clinical and administrative leadership for all nursing services, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate resident care. This role oversees staff performance, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives in a long-term care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all nursing services and resident care delivery
- Ensure accurate assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Monitor resident outcomes and resolve quality-of-care concerns
- Supervise and support RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nurse managers
- Recruit, train, schedule, evaluate, and discipline nursing staff
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
- Ensure compliance with CMS and state/local regulations
- Lead QAPI, infection control, and risk management programs
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN License (verified via Nursys)
- Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN highly preferred)
- BLS & ACLS certifications (AHA)
- 3–5 years nursing experience
- Prior DON or ADON experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of long-term care regulations and standards
- Experience with Matrix EMR (highly preferred)
- Infection Preventionist Certification (or obtain within 6 months; CMS program available)
