Rural Summer Legal Corps Fellow
Host Site: Utah Services
Topic of Project: General Practice
Location: Salt Lake City, UT, Ogden, UT, Provo, UT or St. George, UT Description of
Fellow Project:
The 2026 RSLC Fellow will help address the crisis facing rural Utahns who need legal assistance but have increasingly limited options for advice or representation. The Utah Community Access Fellowship will have 1 law student working on client services and intake efficiency by creating a system that expedites the intake process between ULS and trusted community partners in rural areas of Utah while developing a robust system, of legal clinics and outreach activities. We believe this Fellowship will encourage an up-and-coming attorney to engage with rural communities while leveraging their innovative spirit, energy, and creativity.
The Fellow will continue to work directly with rural clients at legal clinics, assist attorneys with extended service cases, conduct legal research on substantive housing, domestic, and consumer issues, and develop outreach materials for clinic participants. In addition, they will evaluate partners and make adjustments to our intake and document collection processes. They will play a crucial role in deepening the collaborative process with certified partners and growing a sustainable model for this project.
Additional Applicant Qualifications:
This is a hybrid position. The Fellow will work in one of our 4 offices depending on the Fellow’s preference and will need to be in-office at least two days a week on a regular basis.
Proficiency in a second language is not required, but it would be helpful if the fellow spoke Spanish.
Fellows need their own vehicle for this fellowship. Fellows will need to be available to travel on a paid, limited basis to attend in-person outreach and clinic events.
