AI Artist
The AI Artist will explore the intersection of art, design, and machine intelligence to create striking, concept-driven visual content for UC Irvine Beall Applied Innovation. This role blends creative intuition with technical fluency—turning research, innovation, and storytelling themes into high-impact imagery and motion assets. The ideal candidate has a foundation in fine arts or design and is open to use of emerging AI visual tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and produce AI-generated images, illustrations, and visual narratives aligned with UC Irvine’s innovation brand.
- Develop branded image systems, style tokens, and generative prompt libraries to ensure creative consistency.
- Collaborate with the creative director and content teams to visualize complex scientific or technological ideas.
- Experiment with generative tools (Midjourney, Runway, Kling, Nano Banana, Firefly, etc.) to develop novel aesthetics and workflows.
- Create AI-assisted motion loops, hero images, and visual assets for social, web, and event storytelling.
- Participate in critiques, showings, and showcases that demonstrate innovation in AI-driven art and design.
Qualifications
- Strong background in visual art, design, or digital media (fine arts, design, or related field of study).
- Conceptual thinker able to translate abstract ideas into visual metaphors and narratives.
- Skilled in composition, lighting, color, and typography.
- Experience with AI image generation and editing tools (Midjourney, Firefly, Runway, Photoshop, etc.).
- Familiar with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects.
- Interest in ethics, authorship, and innovation in generative art.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with prompt engineering, style transfer, or diffusion model fine-tuning.
- Basic familiarity with C2PA or digital provenance frameworks.
- 3D or motion design experience a plus.
- Portfolio demonstrating artistic and AI-assisted creativity.
