Custodial Assistant - Summer and/or Fall 2026 - Work Study or Regular Pay

Position Summary  

Custodial Assistant helps maintain cleanliness in bathrooms, entryways, windows and all flooring. Duties include taking out trash/recycling, shoveling snow, and assisting with room setups as needed. Extra attention may be required in high-traffic areas. The role involves teamwork, strong communication, and problem-solving skills. Custodial Assistants collaborate closely with UC Building Managers, Audio/Visual Assistants, Building Operations Assistants, Reservations, Custodial & Maintenance and other to ensure smooth operations and a clean, welcoming environment.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Experience and ability in Excel • 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Attention to detail • Ability to work independently

Tasks 

All UC Employees:

  1. Uphold UC’s service pillars of experience, courtesy, inclusion, efficiency, and safety.

  3. Participate and complete onboarding, UC-wide Orientation, and training.

Position Specific:

  • Maintain Cleanliness: Clean bathrooms, common areas, glass surfaces and remove litter/debris regularly.
  • Waste & Snow Removal: Empty trash/recycling, monitor supplies, and help clear snow around entrances.
  • Event Support: Assist with room setups and support University Center events and programs as needed.
  • Follow Procedures: Adhere to building policies, observe safety protocols, Collaborate & Communicate: Work independently and in teams, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Engage in Training: Participate in job training, evaluations, and development opportunities for future career readiness.

Additional Requirement(s) (Meetings/Training/Event Staffing)

  1. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and university break periods, including opening and closing shifts, based on the operational needs of the University Center.
  2. Must uphold a high standard of professionalism, exercise discretion, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive situations, building access, or incident information.
