Intersectional Program Intern - Summer and/or Fall 2026 - Work Study or Regular Pay

Position Summary  

The Intersectional Program Intern at UW-Whitewater collaborates with the Program Specialist for Intersectional and Greek Programs to create dynamic, thought-provoking events that celebrate identity, foster belonging, and spark meaningful dialogue. This role combines creativity with purpose by supporting outreach, event coordination, and program evaluation to enhance campus engagement. Interns play a key role in building inclusive spaces where students can explore and embrace their intersecting identities. The position also includes staffing Warhawk Connection Center (WCC) events and desk shifts, offering hands-on experience in leadership, communication, and community-building.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Must be a UW-W student enrolled in at least 6 credits. 
  • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher. 
  • Strong interest in social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion work. 
  • Passion for event planning and community outreach.

Tasks 

All UC Employees:

  1. Uphold UC’s service pillars of experience, courtesy, inclusion, efficiency, and safety.
  2. Follow UC Student Employee Guidelines
  3. Participate and complete onboarding, UC-wide Orientation, and training.

Position Specific:

  • Plan and Facilitate Events: Support the design, promotion, and execution of programs that center intersectionality, including workshops, panels, and speaker series.
  • Lead Outreach and Engagement: Develop creative strategies to engage underrepresented students and campus communities in intersectional programming.
  • Support Program Assessment: Assist in creating and distributing tools like surveys to evaluate program effectiveness and gather participant feedback.
  • Promote Programs and Events: Collaborate with marketing staff to increase visibility of intersectional initiatives through social media and campus outlets.
  • Coordinate Signature Commemorative Programs: Provide leadership in planning and executing signature events such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Program, César Chávez Celebration, and heritage month programming.
  • Support WCC Operations: Help staff the Warhawk Connection Center Desk and events, ensuring inclusive and welcoming experiences for all students.

Additional Requirement(s) (Meetings/Training/Event Staffing)

  1. Weekly One-on-One Meetings with supervisor
  2. WCC Team Meetings by-weekly and may serve on SAI Advisory Board
