Intern-Product Development, In Vitro

Position Summary

 

Join our Product Development team as an Intern and contribute to groundbreaking early-stage gene editing therapeutic programs. In this hands-on role, you will develop novel in vitro assays while gaining practical experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation techniques. You will work directly with experienced scientists, present your findings to the team, and play a meaningful role in advancing our therapeutic pipeline.

 

This position will be located in RTP, NC and will report to the Senior Scientist, Product Development Team.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize one to two novel in vitro assays to support the advancement of our early-stage therapeutic program
  • Learn and apply tissue culture techniques, LNP formulation and characterization methods, and NGS workflows under the guidance of experienced team members
  • Execute routine NGS workflows and in vitro assays with increasing independence
  • Maintain comprehensive electronic lab notebook documentation of all experiments and periodically review progress with team members
  • Participate actively in weekly team huddle meetings and scientific team meetings
  • Provide regular progress updates to the team lead and scientific core team
  • Present your work and findings to the Product Development department and early product team

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree or higher in Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, or Virology
  • Proficiency in standard tissue culture, PCR, and western blot techniques
  • Conceptual familiarity with NGS, gene editing, and lipid nanoparticles
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Flexibility and willingness to support diverse responsibilities within the team
  • Availability to work full-time on-site during the summer months (May–August) at an AskBio office

 

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

  • PhD students in Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, or Virology are encouraged to apply
  • Proactive, solution-driven mindset with a strong scientific curiosity
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with the team
  • Prior hands-on experience with gene editing technologies or therapeutic development
