North Zone Shoshone Wilderness Trail Crew
Position Summary
Selected candidates will serve as crew members on a professional backcountry trail crew and will work alongside Forest Service and Montana Conservation Corps (MCC) personnel. The crew members will perform routine trail maintenance duties including; trail logout, tread work, construction of drainage structures, hiking extensively and living and working in remote backcountry settings.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Extensive hiking over mountainous terrain
- Camping in isolated and remote backcountry settings
- Working with small groups of people in remote areas
- Ten hours of repetitive manual labor tasks, digging, bending, stooping and lifting objects of over 50 lbs.
Marginal Duties
- Routine tool maintenance
- Driving 4x4 Forest Service vehicle
- Required trainings (CPR, defensive driving, horsemanship, packing, crosscut and chainsaw)
- Assist other departments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Previous trail experience
- Camping and hiking mandatory
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

Horsemanship skills preferred.

Living Accommodations
Bunk housing available at one of our Ranger stations. Ranger stations are 45-60 minutes away from the office, personal vehicle needed.
Compensation
$1,100 Round Trip Travel Allowance (Paid Once)
$450/week (Paid Bi-Weekly)
