E.H.S. Operations Intern

The E.H.S (Environmental Health and Safety) Intern will support the implementation and continuous improvement of workplace safety programs. This role will focus on updating Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), supporting new product line and equipment introductions, and evaluating ergonomics across existing production areas. The internship provides hands-on experience in safety program development, manufacturing operations, and cross-functional collaboration.

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Safety Compliance:
  • Support integration and alignment of safety documentation with the SPX platform
  • Create new Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for new product lines and equipment introductions
  • Review and update existing JHAs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency
  • Collaborate with production team members to gather input and improve JHA content
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Conduct ergonomic reviews of production areas to identify risk factors
  • Identify and assist in developing and implementing ergonomic improvement recommendations
  • Document findings, updates, and project progress using standard reporting tools
  • Participate in other projects assigned that relate to the overall goals

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience and Education

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
  • Company will not provide sponsorship for position. Must be eligible to work in US.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

 

Travel & Working Environment

  • Onsite – no travel

Manufacturing environment and requires use of foot and eye protection when in production areas
