Job Summary:
Institutional Analytics and Reporting is seeking an Institutional Research Analyst. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

Reporting to the Principal Institutional Research Analyst, the Institutional Research Analyst provides statistical, qualitative, and analytical expertise to inform Oregon State University’s strategic planning, accreditation, and decision-making. The analyst supports projects that require collaboration with colleagues across the Data and Information Architecture (DIA ) unit in University Information and Technology.
This position assists in federal and state reporting, including IPEDS submissions, state data uploads, and responses to external rankings and surveys. It is also responsible for the development and maintenance of internal institutional research data sets, the documentation of data management procedures, and the collection of external data.
The analyst optimizes processes for extracting, cleaning, and integrating institutional data, ensuring accuracy and reliability through rigorous quality checks and engagement with data originators when issues arise. They will work with DIA modelers to automate IR processes where feasible. Archival data resources are maintained to support longitudinal analysis, and methods are fully documented for transparency and consistency.
Through these efforts, the Institutional Research Analyst helps OSU meet its external compliance obligations while advancing a culture of data-informed decision-making across the institution.

What You Will Need
Master’s degree in Social Science (quantitative emphasis), Statistics, Education (quantitative emphasis), Engineering, Business, Information Science or Computer Science. And at least three years of experience of social or institutional research experience OR
Bachelor’s degree Social Science (quantitative emphasis), Statistics, Education (quantitative emphasis), Engineering, Business, Information Science or Computer Science
And at least five years of experience of social or institutional research experience
Experience should include data collection, data entry, and validation of data accuracy.
Experience conducting statistical analysis using any modern statistical package and summarizing statistical results. Must be proficient in at least one statistical software package such as SAS , SPSS , or R.
Must demonstrate the ability to work with minimal guidance within a complex, diverse organization.
Ability to work on multiple projects that may have short and concurrent deadlines.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively in teams.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
Master’s degree in Social Science (quantitative emphasis), Statistics, Education (quantitative emphasis), Engineering, Business, Information Science or Computer Science is strongly preferred.
Experience in public higher education.
Experience with interactive graphical (business intelligence) tools such as Crystal Reports, Tableau, PowerBI.
Knowledge of relational database systems such as Oracle or MS SQL server.
Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL ).
Experience with an enterprise resource planning (ERP ) system for student information, human resources, budgeting, etc., such as Banner or Workday.
Experience with data mining tools and techniques.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Schedule This position will work a typical Monday – Friday schedule and will be based on the Corvallis campus.
This position may at times require work outside of normal business hours and/or weekends.
Modality Hybrid: This position is designated as hybrid, working both on-site and remotely. The exact amount of on-site and remote work and schedule will be discussed with the supervisor. Hybrid work is dependent on business needs.
