The Teaching Artist is a non-exempt, non-profit instructor position. The teaching artist provides instruction, leadership, and supervision to students in our music classes. A highly visible teaching role, the Teacher will support and uphold the mission and vision of ALC. This role is responsible for instructing and preparing students in characterization, script analysis, improvisation, and performing throughout the school year. It is required to cultivate and maintain solid working relationships with various schools and community partners, as well.  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS  The ideal candidate possesses classroom management skills, and a deep commitment to music, theatre, education, and ALC’s mission of making the arts accessible and equitable to youth throughout Orange County.  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with children • Passion for theatre, music, and an understanding of the educational purpose behind arts education programs • Ability to work withing the scope of authority and defined rules • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks • Maintain professional behavior and appearance • Ability to exercise self-control and balance judgement • Work collaboratively and autonomously  

EDUCATION & DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Music, Theatre Arts, Arts Management, or a related field preferred • 3+ years previous experience in a non-profit and age-appropriate music and theatre education program • Strong familiarity with the non-profit arts organization business model  • Theatre or music teaching experience is a plus
