CURATE Summer Research Intern
Are you an undergraduate student interested in addiction medicine and public health research? Apply to the Clinical Undergraduate Research in Addictions – Training and Experiences (CURATE) Summer Program at Boston Medical Center/Boston University!
CURATE is a 10-week summer program that provides mentored research experiences to undergraduate students interested in addiction research. Students will be paired with a faculty mentor who has similar interests or focus areas. The program also includes didactic sessions, workshops, clinical observations, and career development opportunities.
Program Highlights:
- A 10-week immersive experience in addiction research and medicine (mid or late May–late July 2026)
- $6,000 stipend for your work on a mentored research project.
- Housing & meals support for on-campus participation.
- Travel stipends to and from Boston for students with financial hardship or other needs.
What You’ll Gain:
- Research Skills: Contribute to an addiction research project, get dedicated mentorship and build expertise through workshops, career development, and networking.
- Clinical Exposure: Shadow physicians and care providers in addiction treatment settings, including methadone clinics, buprenorphine programs, HIV clinics, syringe service program, and inpatient consult services.
- Educational Growth: Participate in 8 didactic sessions on topics including harm reduction, social determinants of addiction, and substance use policy research.
- Community: Join a peer cohort of 3–5 students for collaborative learning.
Eligibility:
- Motivated, committed undergraduate students interested in full-time addiction research over the 10-week summer period. The program will be in-person; participation can be remote for those demonstrating a need for more flexibility.
