Broadcast Director Internship

Broadcast Director Internship (Seasonal) — Royal Oak Leprechauns (Northwoods League)

This internship provides hands-on experience in collegiate summer baseball. Join the Royal Oak Leprechauns for the summer to gain a behind-the-scenes experience like no other. You’ll learn the ins and outs of a sports organization within the Northwoods League, one of the premier collegiate summer baseball leagues in the country with hundreds of alumni who have gone on to play Major League Baseball.

The Leprechauns create an environment at Memorial Park in Royal Oak that’s entertaining, energetic, and fun for fans and staff. Many former Leprechauns interns have gone on to land full-time roles with major and minor league sports organizations.

Interns will support specific departments throughout the season. This position includes game day duties and select non-game day events. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who thrives in a team environment, is eager to learn, and can adapt to what each day brings with a positive attitude.

Timeline: Starts mid/late May and runs through mid-August (2026 season)
Reports to: General Manager

Responsibilities

Direct and produce the multi-camera live HD webcast of Leprechauns home games, including pre-game and post-game coverage

Camera selection, live switching, graphic overlays, sponsor reads, and highlight clips

Schedule and manage camera operators each game (as applicable)

Maintain video/broadcast production and press box equipment, including setup and teardown of cameras, stands, video equipment, and computer/monitor systems

Clip highlights during games and deliver files quickly for social media use (Dropbox/Drive workflow)

Work directly with the streaming platform and the Northwoods League to ensure a smooth broadcast

Capture player features and behind-the-scenes content for social media and web throughout the season

Help produce promotional footage to support ticket sales, sponsorships, and community initiatives

Create an end-of-season highlight video

Organize and archive video content throughout the season

Assist with game day operations (setup/cleanup and general support as needed)

Qualifications

Positive attitude and strong effort to succeed

Working knowledge of video editing and design tools. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere/Photoshop/After Effects), Canva, or comparable tools preferred

Comfortable learning new technology and workflows quickly

Ability to work nights, weekends, and a demanding game schedule

Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills

Energetic, “can-do” attitude in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge of baseball is strongly preferred
