Upper School Computer Science and Math Teacher (2026-2027)
Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in north Seattle, Washington, is currently recruiting for a full time Upper School Computer Science and Math Teacher starting in the 2026-2027 school year. Lakeside is seeking an energetic and creative educator to help develop the students' creative minds, healthy bodies, and ethical spirits needed to contribute wisdom, compassion, and leadership to a global society. Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will join a dynamic team of 11 Mathematics and Computer Science Department colleagues who are creative, collaborative, and eager to explore best practices for inclusive and culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Teach four classes with an average size of around 17 students per class;
- Specific course assignments are flexible, but likely will include advanced and/or introductory computer science classes and math classes, depending on background;
- Teach a diverse student body with varying backgrounds and experiences with mathematics and computer science;
- Provide eager academic support outside of the classroom (answering homework questions, providing extra help, conferring with student support services, etc.), as needed;
- Collaborate and participate in the work of the Department on innovative, inclusive and equitable curriculum development, pedagogy, and assessment practices;
- Write evaluations of students at each marking period;
- Act as an advisor or co-advisor for 8-10 Upper School students; and
- Participate in the life of the school community which includes assigned duties, departmental and faculty meetings, admissions events, grade-level meetings, and general engagement with student life
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to teach introductory and object-oriented coding in Java, at a similar level to Advanced Placement Computer Science A
- Ability to teach advanced computer science courses such as Web Development or Data Structures is preferred
- Ability to teach introductory mathematics classes or higher, including Algebra II and Geometry
- Success teaching mathematics, computer science, or a related subject at the middle school, high school, and/or college level or significant alternate evidence of the ability to communicate mathematical or computational concepts effectively
- Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks
- Experience fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students feel seen, valued, and heard
- Close collaboration with colleagues on course teams to ensure a consistent student experience across sections
- Satisfactory completion of two criminal background checks
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $72,388 - $128,150 based upon experience and education. Lakeside School is committed to attracting and retaining outstanding candidates and provides a competitive compensation package.
