Program Coordinator

Pay:   $15 - $20/hour depending on experience, part-time non-exempt 

Reports To:  Trenton Children’s Chorus Program Manager

Collaborates With: Volunteers, Chorister Families, and Staff

 

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Program Manager and providing key support to the teaching staff, the Program Coordinator is accountable for creating a wholesome and secure place for teaching and learning, and also serves as a point of contact with parents and choristers. They are responsible for opening the site each day, and for checking choristers upon arrival and signing them out to their families at the end of the program day. They support the students and staff in clearing and reorganizing the spaces at transition points, and are responsible for securing the rooms for the night. They are also responsible for enforcing all infectious-disease-related safety protocols, including hand sanitizing, mask wearing, and social distancing, as they may be enacted by Capital Harmony Works from time to time.

This is a part-time non-overtime-exempt position. The Program Coordinator is expected to be on-site when the Trenton Children’s Chorus program is in session, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm until 6:00pm or until the last choristers are picked up and the space is secured for the evening. They also attend evening events and performances as necessary and mutually agreed. The position is generally expected to require approximately  5 hours per week and to be conducted 9 months of the year.

All Trenton Children’s Chorus staff ensure that each student receives excellent instruction, and aid in the delivery of curriculum that supports the musical and social goals of Trenton Children’s Chorus, and the overall mission of Capital Harmony Works to support social development through ensemble music. They represent Capital Harmony Works’ core values and serve as an ambassador for the organization, both internally and to the general public.

Position Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents, participants, staff, schools, and community partners
  • Maintain chorister attendance list, checking in choristers as they arrive and ensuring that parents or guardians sign their children out at the end of the program day
  • Support the Program Manager in supervising choristers during rehearsals and performances, especially when the Program Manager is conducting other responsibilities, and when TCC provides transportation 
  • Document behavioral or hazard incidents according to TCC policies, if so warranted 
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion, integrity, and honesty, consistent with organizational standards and values
  • Set up and take down rehearsal spaces, including tables and chairs, sweeping, and disposal of trash
  • Help transport equipment needed for performances (keyboard, amp, drums, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
