Glove Specialist

Position Overview: As a Glove Repair Specialist at Better Baseball, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the performance and experience of our customers by providing expertise, service, and selection. You will assess players’ needs, recommend the best equipment, and deliver exceptional player experience to ensure athletes find the perfect bat for their playing style. The Glove Repair Specialist is responsible for assessing, repairing, and restoring baseball gloves to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong craftsmanship, and knowledge of various glove materials and construction techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment: Evaluate damaged gloves to determine necessary repairs and restoration techniques.
  • Repair Techniques: Perform repairs, including relacing, patching, and conditioning leather.
  • Customization: Modify gloves to fit individual player preferences, including adjustments to pocket depth and finger stalls.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all repairs meet industry standards for durability and functionality.
  • Customer Service: Communicate with customers to understand their needs and provide expert advice on glove care and maintenance.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of materials and tools necessary for repairs.
  • Record Keeping: Document repairs performed and maintain records of customer interactions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or training in leatherworking or Baseball equipment repair preferred.
  • Candidates must possess a strong background in baseball and a keen understanding of current product trends.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Candidates should have a strong desire to learn glove repair techniques.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily work in a shop or retail environment.
  • May require standing for long periods and using tools and equipment.
  • Candidates must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
