Join our summer research team and assist in collecting insect data that benefits Michigan fruit growers and our AgChem industry partners.

Duration: May-August, with potential part-time work in Sept-Oct                          

Pay: $15/hr, 30-40 hours/week

Location: Trevor Nichols Research Center, 6237 124th Ave., Fennville, MI 49408

Job Description: Hired individuals will help conduct insecticide efficacy trials by scouting for insects, evaluating insect trap catch, and counting insects and insect damage on fruit and trees. Additionally, individuals will assist in grant-funded research for the Tree Fruit Entomology Lab, which may include invasive species monitoring, pheromone testing, and assisting graduate students with their research projects. This research will be conducted at the Trevor Nichols Research Center as well as other MSU research centers and growers' orchards in SW Michigan.

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Interest in science and/or entomology
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Microscope experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
