The California Department of Transportation's (Caltrans) Division of Maintenance is seeking to hire a Student Assistant, in a learning capacity, and under the direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor and the functional instruction of a Transportation Engineer, the Student Assistant, in a learning capacity, will be responsible for conducting field inspections of the district culvert/ drainage systems. Responsibilities include assessing physical condition of culverts, recommending maintenance and road safety strategies, assisting in data collection, and assuring quality control of technical and maintenance equipment.
