School Social Worker (.3 FTE)

The SouthWest Metro Intermediate District #288 has a part time (0.3 FTE)  School Social Worker opening for our online school, Elevate.

Description:
School Social Worker, .3 FTE for 185 Contract Days. 
 
Provides direct and indirect social work services to students, as indicated on students' Individual Education Plans (IEP's). Works as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide mental health assessments, services, resources and referrals. Services are designed to improve social skills, assist with problem solving, provide behavior management skills, and understand how mental health issues impact students' education.

Job Summary:
Provide support by working directly with students to increase their academic, social/behavioral, communication, and study skills under the direction of the teacher(s).
 
Qualifications:

  • School Social Work License
  • Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents and staff.
  • Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and Restrictive Procedures is required and provided by the District.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.
  • Knowledge and experience providing direct social work service to special education students, as outlined in the Individual Education Plan.
  • Ability to provide direct social/emotional/mental health services, individual and group, to students.
  • Family engagement skills; knowledge of family systems theory.
  • Conflict mediation, crisis management skills
  • Ability to perform assessments for mental health, chemical dependency, and crisis.
