Life on Film Video Editor

About Life on Film

Life on Film is the viral short-form series that gives disposable cameras to strangers around the world to document their lives, then transforms their photos into cinematic stories. The series has reached over 1 billion views and 5M+ followers across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

It has featured S-tier talent and cultural icons including President Biden, Post Malone, Dua Lipa, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran, Lil Yachty, and MrBeast, while partnering with global brands such as Nike, Ray-Ban Meta, and Apple. Life on Film is redefining storytelling in the digital age, blending authenticity, nostalgia, and human connection into one of the most creative series on the internet.

Role Overview

All editing at Life on Film is currently done by the founders. We’re looking for a video editor to step into our process, learn our style, and help us scale without losing taste. The role focuses on turning raw content into strong first drafts. Our videos follow a repeatable structure (interview → transition → photo montage). You’ll create edits that are ~80% there, take notes, refine details, and help push each video over the line. Our editing style prioritizes taste, restraint, and emotional clarity over complex effects or technical tricks. Over time, the goal is for you to internalize our instincts and grow into a trusted editor for Life on Film. This role starts execution-focused but can grow into a Full Time Lead Editing position across Life on Film and future shows.

Responsibilities

  • Edit short-form videos using the repeatable Life on Film structure
  • Cut interviews and sequence photo montages with strong pacing and emotional clarity
  • Implement notes cleanly and efficiently and collaborate closely with the founders on creative feedback
  • Manage multiple edits in parallel as content comes in

Requirements

  • Based in New York City
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and solid editing fundamentals
  • Coachable, curious, and hungry to improve
  • Organized and reliable with revisions and files
  • Taste-driven
  • You do not need: formal film school training, advanced VFX or After Effects skills, or a flashy reel

To Apply

Send an email with:

  • A short note about you and why this role excites you
  • A few examples of past work (published videos are totally fine)

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a paid trial edit using real Life on Film footage.
