School Principal
Northwest Christian School (NCS) has a Principal opening for the 2026-2027 academic year. Founded in 1966, NCS is a growing, Christ-centered, preschool through 8th-grade private Christian school located in Newton, New Jersey.
The Principal at Northwest Christian School is the senior staff member of the school and the execution of the responsibilities connected to this role carry a direct connection to the success of the mission and vision of the school. He or she is responsible for leading and managing all affairs of the school under the guidance, supervision, and in collaboration with the school’s Board of Education, supporting committees, and staff. As the leader of our Christ-centered school, the principal must be above reproach, mature, passionate about their personal relationship with the Lord, and able to provide comprehensive leadership in spiritual, academic, and administrative matters. Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- A master’s degree in School Administration, Education or a related field is preferred.
- Candidates are expected to be proactive and visionary educational leaders who have demonstrated administrative leadership experience at a comparable Christian, private, or public academic institution with a track record of academic excellence while creating a safe and dynamic culture of learning.
- Interested candidates must be good communicators with a passion for their faith in Jesus Christ, a love for God’s Word, a servant-hearted love for children and all people, and be excited for the eternal importance of Christian education.
- Classroom teaching experience in a K-8 educational environment
Principal Responsibilities:
- Collaboration in decision making. This role requires an individual who is committed to collaboration with many different stakeholders including, but not limited to: teachers, administrative staff, the Board of Education, committees and subcommittees, students, parents, local churches, and the community at large. The collaborative emphasis requires the principal to identify and actively engage with stakeholders in all consequential decisions to ensure that a variety of diverse perspectives are balanced and accounted for before any changes are implemented.
- The principal takes a leading role in selecting competitive curriculum, monitoring academic performance, evaluating staff, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations, performing some teaching duties as needs arise, overseeing the administrative staff, and guiding and planning various elements of the school life including a weekly chapel service.
- The principal leads the effort, with the help of the Education Committee, to identify, select and develop a Christian-based staff.
- This position will be responsible for engaging with the community, local churches, and other local schools; continuing and deepening the relationship NCS has with our northern New Jersey community.
- The principal is responsible for nurturing positive and uplifting teacher, student, parent and board relations as well as engaging and promoting parental interaction and involvement.
- The principal needs to be a leader spiritually, academically and relationally to our NCS family.
NCS is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Christian Schools International (CSI) with a current enrollment of 146 students. Our mission for 60 years has been to provide children of Christian families with a Christ centered education that promotes biblical principles, academic excellence, and a lifetime of service to God.
