Ready to lead, connect, and help shape the future of public library service? So are we.
Mukwonago Community Library is seeking a collaborative, forward-thinking library leader to join our management team as Associate Director of Circulation & Customer Experience. This role is ideal for a librarian with management experience who is ready to take the next step and shape how patrons experience the library, both inside our building and throughout the community.
Reporting to the Library Director, the Associate Director leads the Circulation and Customer Experience Team, overseeing circulation operations, materials processing and maintenance, as well as marketing and communications. The position supervises a team of 15 part-time staff, including three experienced specialists (Circulation, Materials, and Marketing & Outreach), along with Public Service Associates and Library Pages cross-trained in core services. This role balances hands-on operational leadership with strategic thinking, continually seeking ways to improve workflows, strengthen communications, expand outreach, and reach new users and demographics.

The Associate Director also serves as a visible ambassador for MCL—building community partnerships, attending networking events, and representing the library through media and outreach efforts. Success in this role requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and enthusiasm for leading teams while representing the library as an engaged, public-facing community partner.
