Arts Specialist: Paint Shack

Position Purpose:
To create a fun, safe, and inspiring painting-focused arts experience for campers. This role centers on leading painting activities, managing the Paint Shack space, and supporting creative expression through structured and open-ended art projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead daily painting and art activities for campers (primarily grades 3+)

Create a positive, safe, and welcoming environment

Serve as a role model who supports Gate Hill values

Set up, maintain, and organize the Paint Shack space, supplies, and equipment

Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times

Support camp-wide activities, special events, and rainy-day programming as needed

Represent Gate Hill positively when interacting with families and staff

Qualifications:

Experience with painting and basic arts & crafts

Ability to teach and engage children in creative activities

Strong energy, patience, and enthusiasm for working with kids

Reliable, flexible, and team-oriented

Additional Expectations:

Attend staff and arts orientations

Commit to the full camp season

Participate as a collaborative member of the camp team

Support supervision and activities beyond your specialty when needed
