Temporary eLearning Recording Studio Assistant (Work Study ONLY)

About the Role

Are you interested in video production, audio editing, and working in a professional recording studio? This position offers hands-on experience in a collaborative environment where you will learn industry-standard tools and techniques. No prior experience is required. Comprehensive training will be provided through online tutorials and in-person sessions.

 

As an eLearning Recording Studio Assistant, you will work directly with faculty to create high-quality educational content. This is an excellent opportunity to build technical skills and gain real-world experience in media production.

 

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be responsible for assisting with eLearning functions (20 hours per week), which would include, but are not restricted to: 

  • Assist faculty in recording lectures in the eLearning recording studio
  • Record, edit, and produce multimedia content using tools such as OBSAdobe After EffectsCamtasia, and Adobe Audition
  • Perform audio and video corrections to ensure professional quality
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional studio environment
  • Maintain accurate data in studio tracking documents (Excel)
  • Support eLearning and other technical tasks as assigned

 

Training Provided

  • Video Recording: OBS Studio
  • Video Editing: Adobe After Effects, Camtasia
  • Audio Editing: Adobe Audition
  • Studio Operations: Lighting, camera setup, and recording best practices

 

Qualifications

As per the University’s policy, the following minimum qualifications must be met: 

  • Must be a current UTD student (undergraduate or graduate) in good academic standing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Ability to work on campus and maintain consistent office hours (Monday–Friday)
  • Strong computer proficiency, including advanced skills in Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Professional attitude with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to data integritysecurity, and confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills

 

Preferred

  • Experience working with faculty or in a customer service role
  • Familiarity with video editing or production tools
  • Knowledge of studio equipment, lighting, and camcorders
  • Experience with OBS, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, or Audition
