Reflections Program Manager (School-Based Behavioral Health)
JOB SUMMARY
The Reflections Program Manager plays a pivotal role in spearheading a proactive and student-centered initiative aimed at addressing disciplinary practices that disproportionately affect students of color. Through targeted interventions rooted in restorative justice and social-emotional skill building, the Reflections Program Manager leads efforts to support youth identified with behavioral and disciplinary challenges, fostering an inclusive and supportive school community.
Under the umbrella of the Behavioral Health Program, the Reflections Program Manager supervises and supports Reflections Program staff in ongoing professional development in best practices and direct service and coordinating care with REAP’s behavioral health team. By fostering a synergistic partnership between the Reflections Program and the Behavioral Health Program, we aim to create a holistic and inclusive support system that empowers students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Implementation and Oversight:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Reflections Program, ensuring effective implementation of interventions and activities, stepping in to support staff across sites with student caseload where necessary.
- Provide ongoing support, supervision and consultation to Reflections Program staff on mental health considerations, including identifying signs of distress, crisis intervention, and appropriate referrals to behavioral health services.
- Monitor program outcomes and evaluate effectiveness through data collection, analysis, and reporting, making adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Facilitate regular communication and collaboration between the Reflections Program and the Behavioral Health Program to ensure alignment of goals and strategies.
- Integrate mental health and behavioral health interventions into the Reflections Program framework to provide comprehensive support for students facing disciplinary challenges, providing training and consultation to Reflections staff for effective implementation and delivery.
Program Development and Strategy:
- Develop and refine program curriculum and strategies aligned with the mission and goals of Reflections, ensuring proactive and strengths-based approaches.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including school administrators, teachers, counselors, and community partners, to identify needs and opportunities for program enhancement.
- Stay abreast of best practices, research, and emerging trends in restorative justice, social-emotional learning, and youth development to inform program design and implementation.
- Analyze data trends and patterns to identify opportunities for program improvement and inform evidence-based practices across both behavioral health and restorative justice domains.
Student Support and Engagement:
- Build meaningful relationships with students identified with behavioral and disciplinary challenges, offering individualized support and mentorship.
- Facilitate restorative circles, group workshops, and other activities to promote social-emotional skill development, conflict resolution, and positive behavior reinforcement.
- Empower students to become active participants in their school community by fostering a sense of belonging, agency, and leadership.
Community Collaboration and Advocacy:
- Cultivate partnerships with community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to expand resources and support networks for program participants.
- Advocate for policy changes and systemic reforms to address the root causes of disproportionate disciplinary practices and promote equity and justice in education.
- Represent the Reflections Program at meetings, conferences, and events to raise awareness, share best practices, and build alliances within the broader community.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Proven experience in program management, preferably in a non-profit or educational setting, with a focus on youth development and equity.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in child and youth behavioral health and/or direct services with students identified as having behavioral and/or academic challenges.
- Experience de-escalating challenging behaviors within a school environment/classroom setting or similar.
- Minimum of 1 year experience managing a team of five or more.
- Deep understanding of restorative justice principles, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, communicate effectively, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Conflict resolution and mediation skills.
- Complete internal training for “elevate,” “mindful moments,” and “restorative circles.”
