The WonderLab Marketing Coordinator works independently on core marketing functions while collaborating closely with the Marketing Director to support campaigns, communications, and cross-departmental initiatives. This role manages day-to-day marketing operations for a mission-driven museum, including social media, community listings, and shared tools that keep projects organized and moving forward. The Marketing Coordinator supports broader outreach and engagement efforts through email communications, marketing materials, and coordination with the development, education, and museum experience teams, helping ensure WonderLab’s programs, events, and mission are communicated clearly and effectively. Priorities may shift week to week based on the museum’s programming calendar, campaigns, and events, with guidance from the Marketing Director.
Position Details
Status: Full time (40 hours per week), “flex-time” hourly (Fair Labor Standards category: “non-exempt”). This position is primarily on-site with option for remote work.
Reports to: Marketing Director
Salary: $40,000 per year

Schedule / Location: Monday–Friday; primarily onsite, with an option for remote work after the probationary period.

Key Responsibilities
Social Media, Digital Presence & Content
- Manage WonderLab’s social media channels, including content planning, scheduling, publishing, and day-to-day engagement.
- Support content strategy and campaign planning by contributing ideas, drafting posts, and coordinating coverage of programs, exhibits, and events.
- Monitor engagement, trends, and basic performance metrics, sharing insights with the Marketing Director.
- Support community growth initiatives and help ensure content aligns with audience interests and organizational goals.
- Build and send email communications using established templates and workflows; assist with list management and basic reporting.
- Support the execution of marketing campaigns across digital, email, retail, and community-facing channels.
- Create marketing graphics and visual assets using brand templates and design tools.
Edit short-form video or audio content for social media and digital platforms. - Take photos and video at programs or events as needed to support marketing and communications
Events & Community Listings
- Publish WonderLab programs, events, and announcements on WonderLab’s internal and external channels, local and regional event calendars, community boards, and partner platforms.
- Maintain accurate, timely listings and seek new outlets to expand community awareness and attendance.
Departmental & Administrative Support
- Maintain shared content calendars, project trackers, distribution lists, and analytics reports.
- Coordinate with internal teams including education, museum experience, and development to gather information and support communications.
- Assist with copy editing, proofreading, background research, internal communications, and other administrative tasks that support department operations.
- Support event staffing and public-facing engagement as needed.

Required Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Experience managing social media channels for an organization, including content scheduling, engagement, and basic performance tracking
- Experience building and sending email communications using an email marketing platform
- Strong written communication skills, including copy editing and proofreading
- Working knowledge of digital tools such as social media schedulers, project management tools, and shared content calendars
- Basic design experience using templates in tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines - Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small, cross-functional team
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for events
Preferred Qualifications (Optional but Helpful)
- Experience working in a museum, educational, cultural, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization
- Familiarity with event marketing, community outreach, or public engagement
- Basic photo or video capture and short-form editing experience
- Experience supporting PR or media outreach efforts
- Familiarity with analytics and reporting for social media or email campaigns
Physical Requirements

The position involves prolonged sitting and computer use, occasional standing and walking, and frequent use of hands for typing or handling office equipment. Strong visual and oral communication abilities are required. The role may involve occasionally lifting and transporting marketing equipment (up to ~25 lbs.) and occasional local travel.
