PDS Data Intern - Parking

The City of Boise's Department of Planning and Development Services (PDS) is responsible for the physical growth and development of the city. From forward-looking plans to everyday, practical building and construction, PDS plays an instrumental role in the shape and direction of Boise. Specific responsibilities include long-range planning, urban design, mobility, housing, community development, zoning, historic preservation, building permitting, and inspections.

We are seeking data interns for the Spring and Summer semesters to support Planning and Development Services with a data cleanup project focused on increasing compliance with payment of past-due parking tickets. Responsibilities will include data entry, analysis, and creating customized dashboards. Each intern will be assigned a specific deliverable to complete by the end of the semester. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to observe and contribute to other Planning and Development Services projects, aligned with their academic background and skill level. 

Successful candidates for these positions will be self-motivated, inquisitive, and reliable. An understanding of databases is a preferred skill, but experience with GIS and Power BI is not necessary. Students in the Urban Studies program are encouraged to apply.

This will be a temporary 19/hour per week job - Tentative start date is the week of May 18th, running through mid-August.
 

 

Requirements

 

Undergraduate or Graduate student (degree-seeking) enrolled in an Idaho college or university.

Proficiency in MS Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently with general guidelines under minimal supervision

Applicants must be able to pass:

City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
