The Role at a Glance
We are seeking a motivated Automation Engineer to join our IT Security Engineering team. You will work with senior engineers to learn Splunk, Cribl, SOAR, and Python automation tools, and help build production-ready automation solutions for security operations.
The role is part of Lincoln’s Emerging Technologist Program (ETP), a two-year early career development initiative designed to accelerate the growth of future-ready IT professionals
What you'll be doing
- Work with senior engineers to learn Splunk, Cribl, SOAR, and Python automation tools
- Build and deploy production-ready automation scripts
- Set up and maintain Git-based CI/CD pipelines for code quality and secure deployments
- Optimize data ingestion and transformation in Cribl and Splunk
- Develop SOAR playbooks for automated incident response
- Prototype AI features for alert triage and anomaly detection under governance controls
- Participate in code reviews and maintain clear documentation
- Participation in our weekly on call rotation
What we’re looking for
Must-haves:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Familiarity with containers, code, Linux, cloud, security, or DevOps fundamentals (experience with any enterprise-grade tools or platforms is valued, even if not our exact stack)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Git
- Strong communication skills
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with Splunk, Cribl, or SOAR platforms
- Interest in AI and security automation
- Experience with AI Agents
- Experience with AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, and ECS
