A Healthcare Advisory Intern is provided tools and training to gain professional skills and experience. The internship is structured as a learning experience that combines class theory with real world applications.
The Winter Internship Program is during our busy season, usually beginning early January and ending in April or May depending on your department.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Firm’s mission and values by exhibiting the following behaviors:
- Accountability, collaboration, excellence, and innovation
- Become familiar with the Firm’s policies and procedures
- Obtain a working knowledge of the Healthcare industry
- Obtain a working knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare laws and Firm-specific Healthcare department practices and procedures
- Obtain a working knowledge of healthcare terminology used in advisory services
- Understand and abide by the rules, regulations, and code of conduct of the AICPA
- Perform the following procedures:
- Prepare Medicaid and Medicare cost reports and related management analyses
- Coordinate and organize clients’ data for accurate and timely completion of cost reports, including financial data and facility census reports
- Conduct healthcare research projects
- Complete and submit cost reports to more experienced staff
- Various administrative tasks, as needed
Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates will be a junior or year prior to graduation (dependent on 4- or 5-year program) in an accounting program
- Have the flexibility to work Monday – Thursday in person/in the office each week
- Have the flexibility to work weekends as needed
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Be detail-oriented
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be authorized to work in the US
