Fabrication Technician
Cryptic Industries is a special effects fabrication company interested in pushing the boundaries of visual and physical storytelling. We design and build complex interactive practical effects, animatronics, and specialty props for live events, theater, marketing campaigns, film, and television worldwide. Our shop blends traditional artistry – such as sculpting and mold-making – with cutting-edge technology and engineering to create immersive and tactile experiences from small, intricate creatures to large-scale mechanical installations.
Looking for technicians with experience in any of the following areas:
- Create mechanical design, shop drawings, and CNC files. Is proficient in Fusion 360 with a strong skill set in fabrication. Is able to take a napkin sketch to a functional 3D printed or machined prototype.
- Mechanical effects (pneumatics/servos)
- Electronics (LED’s, microcontrollers, motion control)
The artist profile:
- Has extensive material knowledge.
- Can independently manage and execute interactive experiences.
- Collaborates with other artists in painting, sculpting, construction, machining, molding, and casting to achieve the desired outcome.
- Ensures all rigs meet safety standards and can be easily struck, crated, and shipped globally.
- Has an understanding of the fast-paced nature of the entertainment industry.
- Enjoys the puzzle of making something you’ve never made.
