Location: Concord, NC 28025

Schedule: Full-Time

Description:

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing to join our school-based team in Concord, North Carolina. This role offers the opportunity to support students with hearing loss by providing specialized instruction and collaborating with school staff to promote academic and communication success.

Position Overview

The Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing will provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with hearing impairments in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher will work closely with students, families, and educational teams to ensure access to curriculum and communication supports.

Responsibilities

Provide specialized instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing

Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations

Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers

Support students’ communication needs using appropriate modalities (e.g., spoken language, sign language, assistive technology)

Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings

Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and school regulations

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field (Preferred)

Active or eligible North Carolina teaching license with DHH endorsement

Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred

Knowledge of instructional strategies, accommodations, and assistive listening devices

Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
