Accounting Specialist

Department: Accounting        

Employment Status Classification: Part-Time Hourly; Non-Exempt (28 hours per week)

Job Description Summary:

The Accounting Specialist is a key member of Community Housing Network’s accounting team. This position is responsible for leading month-end close process and overseeing day-to-day accounting operations to ensure timely, and accurate financial reporting.

Essential Functions:   

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Review workpapers and audit schedules
  • Prepare miscellaneous grant billings
  • Backup for accounts payable and other key accounting functions
  • Support accounting for various entities
  • Assist with preparation for audits
  • Preparation of journal entries, workpapers and account reconciliations
  • Other accounting related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
  • Not-for-profit and/or grant accounting experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook; experience with Blackbaud/Financial Edge NXT is a plus
  • Proficiency in Blackbaud/Financial Edge preferred
  • A willingness to learn, grow and cross train within the accounting department
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with federal grants is a plus

Travel

No travel is required for this position.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position reports in office and from home, based on department needs. Primary functions of this job are sedentary.
