APAPA Spring 2026 Capitol Internship Program
The APAPA Spring 2026 Internship Program is a free, hands-on internship program that places students in state and local elected offices while providing them with supplemental professional development and policy training.
Selected applicants in our Spring Internship Cohort will gain the opportunity to intern with the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, the California State Treasurer’s Office, State Assembly and Senate offices, and local Sacramento City Council offices. Stipends up to $1,000 are available for selected interns!
Spring 2026 Program Details:
Placement Period: Early April – Early June 2026
Weekly Time Commitment: 12-20 hours per week in-person
Application Deadline: January 31, 2026
Stipend: Up to $1,000
Open to: Local high school, undergraduate, and graduate students interested in public service, government, and policy.
In addition to their placement, interns receive training in:
- Legislative process and public policy fundamentals
- Reading and analyzing policies and bills
- Writing policy memos and fact sheets
- Constituent services and professional communication
- Capitol professionalism and workplace expectations
We believe this opportunity would be a strong fit for students interested in civic engagement, leadership development, and public service careers.
